US President Donald Trump, along with First Lady Melania, on Sunday left for a historic visit to India. Just before his departure, the Republican leader said he had committed to visit India a long time back and was looking forward to be with the people of India. US President’s whole group will arrive at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, Gujarat at 11.40 am today.
After this, he will address the much-awaited ‘Namaste Trump’ event at the newly built Motera stadium at 1 pm where Trump will be accompanied by PM Narendra Modi.Thousands of people will welcome Trump in a massive roadshow in Ahmedabad.
After that, the US President will mark his presence at the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra,UP.
After this, Trump will visit Delhi, where he is expected to focus on a slew of bilateral & regional issues, including defence, trade, investment, religious freedom and security.
Setting the stage for Trump’s two-day visit, February 24 and 25, PM Modi on Sunday tweeted, “India looks forward to welcoming the US President.”
Trump’s two-day visit to India comes at a time when the country is staggering due to zealous protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act, that aims to fast-track the expedition process of non-Muslim immigrants who faced religious persecution in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.According to senior US administration officials, US President Donald Trump is also going to raise the issue of CAA, and NRC with PM Modi during his two-day visit.
